How much does it cost to spray a garage door?
The cost to spray a garage door starts from £395.00 for a single garage in very good condition. This will increase for double garages, or doors that require the existing flaking paint stripped back to bare.
How long does it take to dry?
The paint takes under one hour to go touch dry and 2 to 4 hours to fully harden. We usually ask you to leave the garage door closed until the next day to ensure it is fully cured.
How long does it take to complete my garage door respray?
It takes between 2 to 3 hours to complete your garage door respray. This includes all preparation of the door surface, masking and protection of surrounding areas as well as spraying and de-masking.
What paint should I use to paint a garage door?
Garage doors are best painted with a 2K direct-to-metal product. Any other products used on these tend to fail within a few years, including standard oil-based undercoat and gloss systems.
The 2K coating used by us at XOX Coatings has an expected lifespan of 10 to 15 years. This can be maximised with regular cleaning and ensuring any abrasive debris is not left on the surface for long periods of time. Areas of harsher environmental impact such as southern-facing or coastal properties are subject to increased exposure to heat and salt air which can impact the lifespan of the product. This would still be expected to last at least 8 to 12 years.
What type of garage doors can you spray?
We are able to spray many types of garage doors. Metal doors – usually steel or aluminium, fibreglass garage doors and all styles such as roller shutter doors, up and over style garage doors and even sectional panelled garage doors.
What if the existing paint is flaking off my garage door?
If you have flaking paint on your garage door we would need to remove this and prepare the door prior to spraying. Sometimes we are able to prepare small localised areas and blend in prior to spraying, but in extreme situations, we will need to fully strip the garage door back to bare metal. We do this using a heat gun, with scrapers and machine sanding equipment. This is a much longer process and may require up to 2 days to strip and re-spray, which will incur an additional cost. We will always make you aware of this in the quotation.

What Colours can I have my garage door?
We have almost unlimited colours available for spraying your garage door. We are able to match most colours from most brands including designer brands such as Farrow & Ball and Laura Ashley. We can also match colours from standard paint suppliers such as Dulux, Crown and Valspar. Our main range of colours tends to be from the RAL Colour or NCS range of colours of which there are thousands of choices. The RAL colours tend to be what is used in the uPVC industry by most manufacturers. This means we are able to match any colour available from any manufacturer.
